| Garniture? Noun garniture 1. Something that garnishes; a decoration, adornment or embellishment We are an antique flea market and atelier serving the Houston, TX area. All of our pieces are sustainable, local and artisanal. Everything on our site is one of a kind, we do not sell reproductions. Our philosophy is simple; we create usable art out of salvaged materials. Selling online gives our patrons 24/7 shopping convenience and keeps our overhead low so that our prices can stay fair. Our format was created when our owner, Sara Cooney, an interior designer and artist moved to the Houston area last fall. Desiring a lifestyle that would allow her to create art from home so that she could take care of her family while she worked, the seed was planted for Garniture atelier. What makes Garniture unique is that it sells its products in a manner that actually reduces our environmental impact. We do not have a brick and mortar retail location, our pieces are readied for the market in our home studio. We do not produce catalogs or mass mailings because we do not believe it is good for our environment. All of our antiques, materials and labor are locally sourced allowing us to save our environment the effects of long distance shipping and packaging. Pieces that require repair or redesign are hand finished using eco-friendly products. Our locally produced furniture is delivered by our own staff for a small fee to the Houston area. This method allows us to combine deliveries to reduce carbon emissions and use little or no packaging materials. Since all of our wares are one of a kind, we think our furnishings lend a bit of soul to any home . Our careful and low impact methods of redesign allow us to repurpose pieces that may have been destined for the landfill. Because all of our pieces are curated by an artist/designer, you will only find fabulous pieces on our site, allowing us to save the most important resource of all - your time!
